ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed high school.
  • English proficiency: TOEFL (PBT 500, CBT 173 and IBT 61 ) or IELTS 5.5, or other recognized English test.  Applicants without appropriate qualifications must take the SUIC English Language test.
  • Drawing and design skills

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

  • To produce qualified graduates who can professionally apply both technical and practical skills in the field of multi-media for the local and overseas market.
  • To extensively promote an international-standard curriculum and which will be operated and managed by lecturers from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn University and the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD).
  • To encourage people to recognize the importance of multimedia and its relationship with technology

 

TEACHING METHODS
Through problem based learning (PBL) and an international curriculum and faculty students are exposed to a learning approach which will result in them gaining knowledge and multimedia competencies.  Students are expected to participate actively throughout the programme.  Faculty consists of industry professionals together with leading academics from Thailand and the United Kingdom.

 

PROGRAM ORGANIZATION
The program, which emphasizes both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills, encourages students to utilize leading design technology in order to prepare them for the modern marketplace.

This program, which is concerned with the essential elements of visual design and mass communications, focuses on studio and workshop tuition led by a team of highly experienced design staffs. The various modules of study are supported by an integrated programme of media theory and application, which introduces students to contemporary media practice and current professional design thinking in relation to mass communications.  The course is considered a starting point for any of the interesting and rewarding careers related to the visual design and media industry. These may include design; photography; illustration; multimedia; video and sound production; television; publishing; the press and advertising.

FREE ELECTIVES:
Students can choose courses that available in other programs operated by Silpakorn University International College (SUIC).

PORT FOLIO REVIEW :
Submit art and design portfolio witch included photographed and/or scanned works of art (such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc.) graphic, time-based, interactive, digital work on a CD or DVD (compatible with both PC. and MAC).
Download a portfolio inventory sheet that indicates the title of work, medium/format, dimensions, date of completion, running time, software used, and any other related information about each piece in the portfolio. Label CD or DVD and case with your full-name, address, and phone number.

DIGITAL FORMAT
1. Images should be saved as high quality JPEG files (with a file suffix of .jpg or .jpeg format), Adobe .pdf files, or digital portfolios created in PowerPoint, Director, Flash or HTML.
2. Images should be saved at 72 dpi screen resolution with a minimum height/width of 1,000 pixels.
3. Digital portfolios should be checked to assure that links work properly and all necessary files are included.
4. Students should indicate whether special instructions are necessary for the viewing of digital portfolios.
5. An inventory sheet must be attached.

MOVING IMAGE FORMAT
1. Work should be submitted in a platform-independent player format or in QuickTime with the file suffix labeled as .qt or .mov (.mpeg format is also acceptable).
2. Applicants interested in presenting a film and television portfolio should submit work in a multimedia format or as a 5-minute sample on DVD.
3. An inventory sheet must be attached.
